This is a collaboration with my wife Cheryl Elms. The five tubes in back are filled with found objects and woven wire. They act as a backdrop for the winged figure sitting in the forefront. He/she proudly holds two orbs. The orbs represent where I was and where I wanted to go in life, my dreams and goals. Almost all of my works utilizes symbolism like this. I think of each piece as a story and most of the time they speak to things I feel and are hard to put into words. To my collectors they are probably just pretty balls and that's OK. During this time of my works many of my figures sported only one wing. This was a way to say I could see where I was going in the foggy distance, but I was not there yet. I know this pretty esoteric, but then so am I. My work has always given me an outlet to express these abstract emotions and feelings and for that I have always felt very thankful.
